Join ACS for a discussion centered around the 2020 redistricting cycle. This cycle is the first in the wake of the 2018 Rucho v. Common Cause decision in which the court decided that partisan gerrymandering was a non-justiciable political question. The panel will address issues such as partisan gerrymandering and litigation / organizing tactics post-Rucho, gerrymandering and its role in suppressing turnout, particularly among voters of color, as well as what to expect out of the current redistricting cycle. States have begun to release initial redistricting maps, many of which display significant partisan imbalance. What does this suggest for the future of redistricting? How can we combat gerrymandering and partisan entrenchment in the redistricting process?
