Jennifer Chen '12 places first in New York State Bar Association's environmental essay contest
Jennifer Chen ’12 has won first prize in the , sponsored by the New York State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section. In addition to a $1,000 prize, her piece will be published in both the and the New York Environmental Lawyer, the latter a publication of the bar association.
In “The Efficiency and Management of the International Trade in Electronic Waste: Is There a Better Plan Than a Ban?” Chen analyzes the economic efficiency of the international electronic waste trade, the existing regulatory regime, and potential improvements to the regime in light of the efficiency analysis. University Professor , director of the Frank J. Guarini Center on Environmental and Land Use Law, and Adjunct Professor ’06, executive director of the , provided helpful commentary on her draft, Chen said. She is currently a law clerk at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
