Conference examines innovation in governance of development finance

ÈâÂþÎÝ Law’s Institute for International Law and Justice (IILJ) and the Schumpeter Research Group at the University of Giessen jointly convened a conference at the Law School last week titled Topics examined included the conditions under which effective innovations in development finance emerge and flourish, the role law and public policy play in creating those conditions, and the pathologies or pitfalls of such innovations and how they can be avoided. The conference was supported by the Volkswagen Foundation, the IILJ, and ÈâÂþÎÝ Law.

Participants included representatives from the Overseas Development Institute, the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. ÈâÂþÎÝ Law co-hosts for the event were , Vice Dean and Beller Family Professor of Business Law, and , IILJ director and Murry and Ida Becker Professor of Law. ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students Maninder Malli (LL.M. '13), Rivana Mezaya (LL.M. '13) and May Miller-Dawkins (LL.M. '13) served as rapporteurs.
