Meron elected honorary president of the American Society of International Law

, Charles L. Denison Professor of Law Emeritus and Judicial Fellow, has been elected to the position of honorary president of the (ASIL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting international relations and the study of international law. Meron, a professor of international law at ÈâÂþÎÝ since 1977, was the president of the (ICTY) from 2003 until 2005, and serves as a judge in the Appeals Chambers of the ICTY and the .

The honorary presidency was previously held by the late Thomas Franck, former Murry and Ida Becker Professor of Law Emeritus, who was elected in February 2009.
