Andrew Fine, a third year student, will serve as the second-ever clerk for New York City's corporation counsel in September.

Modeled on a traditional judicial clerkship, the one-year Corporation Counsel Clerkship allows a recent top law student to pursue an interest in legal issues related to local government. Fine was chosen from a pool of more than 250 applicants.

“The clerkship attracted me because it provides opportunities in many areas of local government law,” said Fine, who spent the past two summers interning in the General Counsel's Office at the New York City Council and in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York. “I am excited to explore multiple fields in my first year in the profession.”

Fine said he received guidance from Rachel Peckerman at the , associate professor of law , and Crystal Eastman professor of law .

Fine will work closely with Corporation Counsel Michael A. Cardozo as well as senior attorneys and executive staff of the city’s Law Department. His responsibilities may include trial-court-level litigation, appellate work, and legislative drafting on policy initiatives.

Fine is a Frank Guarini Institute for Government Scholar and a Notes Editor for the . As a 2L, he was also vice president of the .
