Jason Schultz elected to American Law Institute
Jason Schultz, who will join the ÈâÂþÎÝ Law faculty as an associate professor of clinical law in Fall 2013, has been elected to the prestigious American Law Institute (ALI). The ALI, a leading independent organization dedicated to producing scholarship that clarifies and modernizes the law, has more than 4,300 top attorneys, judges, and law professors in its ranks who are "intellectual leaders in every area of law."
Schultz, currently an assistant clinical professor of law as well as co-director of the Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, pursues scholarship on the precarious balance between intellectual property regimes and the public’s interest in free expression access to knowledge, and innovation in light of new technologies and their challenges. He comments regularly on IP and technology issues in the mainstream media. Before teaching at Berkeley, he was a senior staff attorney at the Electronic Frontiers Foundation.
