Postgraduate Fellowships Handbook

Postgraduate fellowships are time-limited, full-time positions that are generally awarded early in your legal career. They provide unique opportunities for new lawyers to start and expand their expertise as a public interest lawyer.

Nearly half of all ÈâÂþÎÝ Law graduates pursuing public interest work begin their careers through a postgraduate fellowship. Fellowships are particularly common for entry-level positions in government, law reform and international work.

At PILC, we work closely with ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students and alumni to identify and apply to a wide variety of post-graduate fellowships.

Project Fellowships

Project fellowships are unique in that the applicant, in partnership with their prospective employer, or host organization, develops a proposal for a legal project to be executed over the course of one to two years.

Institutional Fellowships

Institutional fellowships (also known as internally-funded fellowships) are more akin to time-limited staff attorney positions.

ÈâÂþÎÝ Fellowships

ÈâÂþÎÝ Law offers a number of postgraduate fellowships dedicated exclusively to graduating students and recent alumni.
