Meet the LACA Family

The Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA), formerly known as the Black, Latinx, Asian Pacific American Law Alumni Association (BLAPA), serves as the umbrella organization for all of ÈâÂþÎÝ School of Law’s alumni of color.  In 2016, the association changed its name to more wholly represent all of its members. Founded over 40 years ago, LACA promotes and supports the professional development and general advancement of the Law School’s alumni and students of color, and seeks to more fully involve alumni, students and faculty of color in the educational, social, and intellectual life of the Law School. This organization further serves as a powerful vehicle through which professional and personal ties are cultivated.

An Expansive Network: LACA provides an effective and efficient vehicle for current ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students of color, in particular the student of color organizations: the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA), the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), the Latinx Law Students Association (LaLSA), Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association (MENALSA), the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA), and the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA).

Year-Round Events: LACA holds panels, receptions, happy hours, and dinners throughout the year. Events include a welcome reception at the beginning of each academic year, which introduces new students to alumni; multiple professional panel discussions throughout the year; semi-synchronized socials, which brings alumni together regionally; and LACA’s annual Spring Dinner. LACA also supports the annual Derrick Bell Lecture on Race in American Society, an official Law School event that features a prominent legal scholar addressing a current topic in race and law in the United States.
