White & Case Social Entrepreneurship Summer Internship

About

The Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship is pleased to offer up to two student internships each summer for ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students who have completed their 1L year.

Launched in the summer of 2021, the White & Case Social Entrepreneurship Internship program provides ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students with hands-on experience at the intersection of law, social entrepreneurship, and impact investing.

Here is what the 2025 White & Case Interns had to say about their experiences:

"I had the privilege of spending my summer with Calvert Impact, an impact investing nonprofit. During my internship, I was exposed to the full lifecycle of transactions, from early-stage structuring conversations, to active portfolio management. I was able to try my hand at drafting templates for several loan agreement documents, writing a memo on compliance for tax-exempt organizations, and giving a presentation on the legal importance of minutes and record keeping. This experience deepened my appreciation for the role of lawyers in enabling social innovation through financial transactions. I really valued the close-knit and collaborative nature of the team and was inspired by how passionate everyone was about using investment as a tool for good. This experience not only affirmed my academic interests, but it also gave me practical skills and insights I look forward to carrying into my future practice as a transactional attorney."

"Over the summer, I interned for Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS). TCIS focuses on affordable housing innovation and housing finance systems, including the Microbuild Fund, so that they can direct investment capital into areas of the world that need housing. Interning for the Associate General Counsel Market Development and Impact Investing gave me a firsthand experience of what it would be like to work as a lawyer for a mission driven organization. During the internship, I received exposure to transactional work, such as the wind down of an operating fund and the efforts to launch a success fund. In the first year of law school, there’s no exposure to transactional work, so it was great to have it this summer. It was especially interesting to have this transactional experience in impact investing, which often involves international jurisdictions and, as a result, adds intriguing complexities. I will take the insights I gained from interning for Habitat for Humanity throughout my career."

—Eric Oringer, Habitat for Humanity's Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter

These internships are an opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the fields of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. Interns will be placed with either a social enterprise or impact investing organization and will work under the supervision of the organization’s in-house counsel. The internships will conform to PILC’s guidelines on compensation and time commitment.
