Creating ways for law and lawyers to drive positive change in the world

Launched in 2017, the Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship is a global leader in the field of law and social entrepreneurship.

The mission of the Grunin Center is to enhance the community of lawyers and legal institutions purposefully engaged in social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development, and to accelerate their effective participation in these fields.

The Grunin Center, led by Faculty Director Deborah Burand, is uniquely positioned to bridge the gaps between legal practitioners, scholars, educators, and law students. 

As part of its work, the Center:

Educates

students and lawyers about legal issues. The Grunin Center produces legal research and publications and develops tools to help lawyers, entrepreneurs and investors navigate the evolving legal and regulatory landscape for social entrepreneurship and impact investing in the US and beyond.

path-breaking conversations to advance the fields. The Center hosts an annual conference on legal issues in social entrepreneurship and impact investing, webinars, and an invitation-only Legal Scholars Convening.

Invests

in the success of students who are interested in applying their legal skills to the fields. The Grunin Center is expanding ÈâÂþÎÝ Law’s curricular offerings to incorporate more themes of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development.

2023 Grunin Prize Finalists

Celebrates

the contributions of legal practitioners, scholars, and students to the fields. The Grunin Prize recognizes lawyers’ participation in the ways in which business is increasingly advancing the goals of sustainability and human development. The White & Case Award goes to top graduating JD  and LLM students who demonstrates commitment to law and social entrepreneurship.

The Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship and the Journal of Law & Business at ÈâÂþÎÝ School of Law invite submissions for a symposium on legal issues arising in social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development to be held at ÈâÂþÎÝ School of Law on October 7, 2025.
