Alabama


The Alabama Law Foundation, Inc., administers the Cabaniss, Johnston Scholarship, an award endowed in 1987 by the law firm of Cabaniss, Johnston, Gardner, Dumas & O’Neal. While academic achievement is the selection committee’s principal consideration, civic involvement and dedication to the highest ethical standards are also given weight.

California

The organization awards scholarships to assist law students and recent graduates who are interested in summer employment with Bay Area non-profit organizations serving the Latino community. The objective of the fellowships is to enhance the delivery of legal services to the Latino community.

Connecticut


The Bar Association has previously offered several different scholarships to provide financial support to members' children who wish to continue their education.

Hawaii


Hawai‘i Community Foundation's scholarship program consists of over 160 different scholarship funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses or organizations to assist Hawai‘i's residents in obtaining a college education.

Illinois


The Foundation's scholarship program consists of separate scholarship funds created by individual donors who establish specific criteria for the administration of their scholarships.


The organization offers various scholarship programs.


This Program seeks to encourage diversity within the Will County legal community by awarding a scholarship to an incoming first year Black or Latino Law Student.

Massachusetts


The Horace Smith Fund was established to help deserving students finance their education, and is available to local students who are graduates of Hampden County, Massachusetts secondary schools. Fellowship applicants must be residents of Hampden County or qualified former residents.


The Fund seeks to further the development of good citizenship through education by offering scholarships to men and women of good character and ability who are in need of financial assistance.

Michigan


The organization offers various scholarships to Michigan residents.
 


The Foundation awards various scholarships, including the Clarence L. Remynse and Benjamin and Cherie Gubin Scholarships, to undergraduate or graduate students who attended Kalamazoo or Van Buren County high schools,


The Association offers a scholarship to a candidate currently enrolled in or accepted by an accredited law school. The candidate must be a graduate of a Monroe County high school, public or private and maintain their residence in Monroe County, MI. Eligible students are invited to submit a letter detailing their qualifications and requesting to be considered to receive the one annual scholarship.

Mississippi


Offers a student loan to residents of Mississippi.

New Jersey


Applicants must be Atlantic County, New Jersey, residents accepted for admission to law school.


The organization established the Margaret Yardley Fellowship Fund in 1930 to provide fellowship grants to deserving women who are New Jersey residents pursuing post-graduate advanced studies at the school of their choice.


The Hudson County Bar Foundation will award scholarships to students who are attending law school or who have been accepted to law school for the upcoming academic year. The Hudson County Bar Foundation Scholarship Fund is one of the oldest providers of financial assistance to Hudson County law students. Interested applicants can write to the Hudson County Bar Foundation Scholarship Committee, 583 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey 07306 or call (201) 798-4708 or send an e-mail to events@hcbalaw.com to request an application. All applications must be received on or before March 31, 2013

The Women Lawyers’ Caucus of Mercer County offers the Ruth Rabstein Scholarship to enrolled and prospective law students. The scholarship is awarded to a woman with ties to Mercer County, New Jersey. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and community service.

New York

Bronx County Bar Association
The Bar Association offers several scholarships to eligible and deserving law students.


The Gellert Scholarship funds an annual scholarship (awarded through the Dutchess County Bar Association) for a resident of Dutchess County who has completed at least one year in an accredited law school.


Each year the Association awards a $1,000.00 scholarship to either an entering or current law student. The scholarship is for the length of time the recipient attends law school, up to a total of three years. Eligible candidates must be residents of Nassau County.

Nassau County Women's Bar Foundation
The foundation offers the Nassau County Women’s Bar Foundation Scholarship to female 2L or 3L law students who are residents of Nassau County.  Applicants should confirm the scholarship amount with the Foundation.


The New York Bar Foundation is a charitable and philanthropic entity of the New York State Bar Association. Founded in 1950, it is dedicated to aiding educational, direct legal services, and charitable projects aimed at meeting the law-related needs of the public and the profession. The foundation provides funding for increasing public understanding of the law; improving the justice system and the law; facilitating the delivery of legal services; and enhancing professional competence and ethics.


The Bar Association has awarded scholarships based on personal financial need, a commitment to community service, and academic achievement, as demonstrated by a personal statement and recommendation letters. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a law school in the metropolitan area or a resident of Queens County.


In 2005, in recognition of her outstanding work on behalf of the Queens County legal community and her overall professional excellence, the Queens County Women’s Bar Association established The Faith E. O’Neal Scholarship, honoring the memory of Faith E. O’Neal. The QCWBA generally awards two (2) $1,000 scholarships each year. The deadline for applications is generally in October of each year. Please check the website for more details about the application requirements and exact deadline.


The Association offers the John Alexander Memorial Scholarship. Eligible candidates must be residents of Schenectady County, New York.

Saratoga County Bar Association
The Association offers two $1,000.00 scholarships to residents of Saratoga County, New York. The scholarships are for 2L or 3L students who are residents of Saratoga County.

Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties
The Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties Foundation, Inc. offers two scholarships of $1,500 each to female law students that were residents of Orange or Sullivan County, New York at the time of graduation from high school or college.

Ohio


The Association offers a scholarship awarded annually to an African-American Cincinnati resident, enrolled in an accredited law school, who has demonstrated leadership skills, a commitment to the Cincinnati community and has a financial need. All class levels are encouraged to apply.


The Foundation offers various scholarships to residents of Stark County, Ohio.

Oklahoma


Offers scholarship opportunities to Cherokee citizens.

Pennsylvania


The Howard Fox Memorial Law Scholarship Fund was established by Helen and Richard Fox in honor of their son who served as an attorney in the Public Defender's Office.

Rhode Island


The Foundation offers a one year, non-renewable award for full-time students who are Rhode Island residents.

Texas


Each year, since 1982, the J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation has awarded scholarships to minority law students from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, or attending law school in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

International

Canada

Italy

(Fondo per Studenti Italiani) is a not-for-profit corporation that offers financial aid to Italian university graduates who wish to attend a post-graduate course (Master or PhD) in the United States.

ALMA, the Italian LLM Association (www.llm.it), offers scholarship opportunities in collaboratoin with ASLA, Associanzione Studi Legali Associati, for newly-admitted Italian LLM students who will attend an LLM program at a top US law school.
