Scholarships and Financing Your Degree

A graduate legal education is a significant investment. The Law School offers highly competitive scholarships to full-time LLMs, and full funding for four years to JSDs. Many students combine these with aid from other sources to meet the cost of attendance.

Graduate Financial Aid

In support of our commitment to global legal education, the Law School dedicates significant institutional resources to financial aid for full-time master's students from around the world. To streamline the process, candidates apply for scholarships on the admission application; no financial aid form is required.

Part-time Students

When completing an LLM on a part-time basis, students can take up to 6 credits per semester; minimum time to degree is four semesters.

US citizens and eligible permanent residents may apply for federal loans for the semester(s) in which they take six credits. Part-time students are ineligible for Law School scholarships.

Resources for Families

Many of our graduate students plan for their spouse or child(ren) to accompany them to New York. They can apply to live in family and partner housing and purchase dependent health insurance coverage from the student plan. In addition, ÈâÂþÎÝ provides visa services for dependents and a child care subsidy.
