Overview

The global curriculum includes courses developing foundational thinking in the history and theory of public international law and global governance, exceptional depth in and global justice as well as environmental law (including climate change) and public interest lawyering and policy, entire programs offered in Latin America and Europe (), leading Centers on and on , premier programs on intellectual property & antitrust and on international arbitration & litigation, the pathbreaking , and excellent coverage of core practice areas ranging from global business law and corporate compliance, to international trade and investment and anti-corruption, to international taxation, dispute resolution, and international organizations law. ÈâÂþÎÝ Law’s faculty bring to global legal issues interdisciplinary expertise in economics, sociology, philosophy, history, and critical scholarship.

Hauser faculty, fellows, and students from around the world teach, study, and collaborate in New York, and along with our international LLM and JSD students, contribute immensely to our dynamic international community. Guarini Institute for Global Legal Studies

The Guarini Institute for Global Legal Studies supports the international law programs and initiatives at ÈâÂþÎÝ Law that make the Law School a leader in global legal innovation.

Hauser Global Law School Program

The pioneered the idea of bringing the world’s leading faculty, fellows, and students from around the world to teach, study, and collaborate in New York. 

Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice

The  focuses on international and European economic integration and European Union law.

Center for Human Rights & Global Justice

The (CHRGJ) excels in academic and clinical work in human rights, including counter-terrorism; gender-based violence; and economic, social, and cultural rights.

US-Asia Law Institute

The (USALI) promotes the rule of law and human rights in Asia, including both domestic and international law. Known as one of America’s preeminent research centers for the study of law in mainland China and Taiwan, USALI works to improve popular, professional, and scholarly understanding.

 Institute for International Law and Justice

The (IILJ) conducts collective research projects on a wide range of international law and global governance topics with leading scholars and academic and policy institutions worldwide. Students are actively involved in academic and practical training initiatives geared towards careers in international law.

Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement

The is dedicated to developing a deeper understanding of corporate misconduct and effective enforcement and compliance.

Robert and Helen Bernstein Institute for Human Rights

The  promotes cutting-edge scholarship, advocacy, and education on human rights issues. It is ÈâÂþÎÝ's  coordinating hub for human rights work.

Intesa Sanpaolo Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration, and Commercial Law

The  advances the study and practice of international business transactions.

Information Law Institute

Opportunities for Current Students

ÈâÂþÎÝ Law Abroad 

 gives JD students the opportunity to spend a semester immersed in the law and legal culture of another part of the world through an academic program designed and administered by the Law School in cooperation with local partners. The abroad sites are located in Buenos Aires and Paris.

Exchanges

 allow ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students to take courses at 11 universities located on four continents.  are also eligible to apply to ÈâÂþÎÝ Law as exchange students.  

International Moot Court Competitions

 allow ÈâÂþÎÝ Law students to travel and test their oral arguments against other law students.

The Institute for International Law and Justice (IILJ) Lowinson Scholars Program

is for students with outstanding academic backgrounds and strong international law interests.

Language Instruction

: ÈâÂþÎÝ offers students interested in improving or developing foreign language skills a variety of alternative forms of language instruction, including courses, software, language coaching, and language tables.

Postgraduate fellowships open to JD students

  •  provides two graduating JD students with the opportunity to spend one year working with an innovative human rights organization.
  • ÈâÂþÎÝ Public Interest Law Fellowship: Graduating third-year students at ÈâÂþÎÝ Law are invited to apply for an ÈâÂþÎÝ Public Interest Law Center (PILC) Fellowship with a public interest host organization in the United States or abroad. Applicants may propose either a project-based fellowship or an issue-based fellowship at the sponsoring organization.

Postgraduate fellowships open to LLMs 

  •  are awarded to full-time LLM students on a competitive basis. They provide outstanding opportunities to gain experience working with international organizations in the areas of finance and development. 

Postgraduate fellowships open to JDs and LLMs

  • International Court of Justice Judicial Fellows Programme: In 2000, ÈâÂþÎÝ became the first American law school to initiate a clerkship program with the , and since then, the Law School has sent a recent graduate to serve in the ICJ’s Traineeship program every year. 
  • : The Bernstein Fellowship provides an opportunity for a recent graduate to spend one year doing human rights advocacy work at  in its New York or Hong Kong office. 
  • Arthur Helton Global Human Rights Fellowship:  The Helton fellowship supports one or more graduating students annually who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing a career in international human rights law, and who have designed sound proposals for work at a host organization that they have chosen.
