Impact Scholarship
The Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship annually awards one merit-based scholarship to a rising 3L law student or an incoming LLM student with a demonstrated interest and/or achievement in using the law to create innovative solutions in emerging markets through social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and/or sustainable development. This scholarship provides $10,000 in partial tuition support for the full-time JD or master’s degree programs.

Sheilla Nyanchama Mokaya LLM '26
Sheilla obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Kenyatta University School of Law where she graduated among the top students in her class. She has been admitted to the bar in Kenya and in addition to being an advocate, Sheilla is a certified corporation secretary licensed by the Institute of Certified Secretaries in Kenya and a finalist of the Certified Public Accountants examinations offered by the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board.
Prior to commencing her LLM at ÈâÂþÎÝ, Sheilla was an associate at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc., a leading law firm in Africa, in the corporate and commercial practice area. She specializes in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets and employment. In the course of her career she has been involved in novel transactions including participating in the structuring of the first sukuk (shariah compliant bond) in Kenya aimed at raising funds to develop affordable housing supporting the Kenyan Government's affordable housing agenda.
She was also part of the legal team advising on the structuring of a social bond aimed at raising funds to supplement the Kenyan Government's funding for university students in Kenya.
In addition to the Impact Scholarship, Sheilla received the Dean's Graduate Award.
